Healthy Snacks
How often do you go to the fridge or pantry when you’re hungry and wonder what to eat?
Most people need snacks throughout their day but often wonder what do I eat? What is good for me that will fill me up?
I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite healthy but good snacks for everyone to enjoy. I’ve included the recipes on a few as well to help you enjoy some simple snack ideas.
1) Apples and nut butter or apples sprinkled with cinnamon.
2) Greek yogurt, granola or organic oats, chia seeds, berries, nuts, pure maple syrup.
3) Air popped popcorn with butter and salt….yes butter and salt is good for you in moderation.
4) Crackers, cheese, and nuts.
5) Hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper.
6) Frozen banana snacks- slice bananas and put them on a cookie sheet on parchment paper. Drizzle with nut butter and sprinkle chia seeds if you have some. Drizzle melted chocolate chips on top and freeze for about 45 minutes. Enjoy cold. Keep in an airtight container for up to a week.
7) Chia seed pudding- 1 cup of milk of choice, 1/4 cup of chia seeds, 1 tsp vanilla. Mix all together in a container and set in fridge covered for 4 hours or overnight. Eat alone, with berries or other toppings of choice.
8) Quick chocolate mug cake- Mix together 1/4 cup of all purpose flour, 2 Tbsp cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1.5 Tbsp sugar, pinch of salt. Add in 1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp of milk of choice, 2 Tbsp light olive oil. Whisk until there are no clumps and pour into microwave safe mug. Add a few chocolate chips halfway in the batter if you want and top with the rest. Microwave for 60-70 seconds and enjoy!
9) Frozen yogurt bark- line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine 2 cups of yogurt, 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until combined. Spread evenly on prepared baking sheet. Add your choice of fruit, granola, nut butter, seeds, etc. Freeze for 2-3 hours. Break into pieces and enjoy. Keep in the freezer before serving.
